When you design a business model and start building a team, it is important to have some decent people, especially the first 3-5 employees.
These people are the chromosomes and genes of the company, laying the foundation for the future and influencing the behavioral habits and quality levels of future employees who enter the company.
So when selecting people, it is necessary to be cautious and ensure that there are at least three strong employees, who would rather be absent than overused!
Because the basic logic of management is that one person cannot manage all people. The founder of any company cannot involve too many people.
No matter how big your company is, it is absolutely impossible for a founder to manage grassroots employees. Companies like Tencent also need to divide into many departments, and the “boss” of each department directly reports to Ma Huateng.
If a CEO says he wants to manage 30 business lines, it can basically be understood as it is difficult for him to become very efficient or do well.
What about this situation? Actually, we need to reorganize these 30 people into 5 or 6 larger departments.
That is to say, each CEO can only manage 5-6 people, which I think is a relatively healthy state.
But when we operate, we will find it difficult to manage only 5-6 people. If one of them is not awesome, it will lead to cross level management of founders and grass-roots employees, which will greatly increase your management costs.
Not selecting the first few people well may also become a “sequela”, and if you don’t make timely changes, you will find yourself getting increasingly tired.
This is also why I say that early 3-5 employees are very important, as they can ensure that during a period of time when your business does not break through the second or third curve, these people are sufficient to help you solve many problems.
The most important aspect of management is the work of splitting, which is the most fundamental concept. But one thing that many people may overlook is the screening of the quality of these 3-5 middle and senior management.
Personally speaking, the most basic control for selecting people is to ‘do things well’.
Although it may seem like just 5 words, this is actually a difficult task that most people cannot do.
