Don’t fall in love with business. Many people believe that in doing a business, one should persist until the end and not give up easily.
But in my opinion, that’s not the case.
Old fans all know that I used to do the business of disc houses. The fundamental reason why I decided to sell the disc house later was that the basic conditions for the initial establishment of this business had all changed.
The prerequisites for starting a disc house were:
✅ The local Chinese do not have many CDs to watch, and the year 2000 was the peak of studying abroad. At that time, when people had just gone abroad, they swore to learn something, so almost no Chinese students would bring too many entertainment CDs abroad;
✅ Local internet downloads are limited, and most Chinese people rent together, with 4-8 people sharing 10GB of traffic. Apart from browsing web pages, there is basically no way to download;
✅ There is no local dish house, and the market is in a vacuum. There are no competitors, and whoever provides this service will definitely make money.
And when I decided to sell the disc house, the situation was:
✅ At that time, Chinese people had many sets of dishes on hand, which could be exchanged for viewing;
✅ The network company provides a monthly package of 30GB to 40GB, and the price is not expensive;
✅ There are more people in the dish business, and the competition is fierce.
From the perspective of the disc house business, as the market shrinks and competitors increase, it no longer has room for survival. All environments have changed, and blindly adhering to it will only waste more time.
This business was destined to be a short-term project from the beginning, without the characteristics of being long-term or large.
So when starting a business, we must distinguish whether we are doing a project or a career, and never deceive ourselves.
