After ten years of entrepreneurial experience, I think I need to have three important factors if I start a new business now:
First: dividend
What is the bonus? My understanding is the opportunity point, that is, when a trend comes, you seize the opportunity, such as the traffic dividend. When a new platform appears, or a channel appears, there will often be a relatively large dividend. If you join at this time, there will often be a relatively low traffic cost, making money is sometimes like stealing money.
In addition to the flow dividend, there are also structural turning points in society, such as the reform and opening up, which will bring huge opportunities. People with a keen business vision can see opportunities. Ordinary people can’t see even if they have a dividend, and even if they see it, they can’t necessarily seize it.
If we do a project without dividends, the starting cost is very high, and the difficulty is very great. It is difficult to succeed without removing the three layers. There are not a few cases around me. We choose a project that looks like a good business model, and it is also quite good in the later stage. But if the project itself is not in the dividend, the probability of failure is also very high.
Second: compound interest
What is compound interest? My understanding is that there is accumulation in doing this. It is easier to do this. In the past ten years, although it seems to be a successful venture, I found that every time I started a project, I was starting from scratch. Basically, there was no big accumulation, which led me to start a business again and again. I believe that many of my previous partners were also like this.
Now I find that when making a project, the growth of an enterprise can be driven by traffic from zero to ten, but if you want to drive it from ten to 100, it is almost impossible to push it. No matter how much you optimize your marketing model, you can’t push it.
The essential reason for this is that the foundation of the enterprise is not well established and the corporate culture is not formed. Sometimes we find that sales are weak or investment attraction is weak, so it doesn’t work to do all kinds of optimization in the team by all means.
So I conclude that the essence of sales weakness is symptoms, not the cause, but the cause that really affects the performance. Like fever, it is often a symptom rather than a cause.
Third: Customers are strong because of us
The essence of business is to create value. If our business success does not come from creating value, it creates real value for customers, such as whether we have improved efficiency and reduced product prices, whether we have really solved customers’ problems and solved their pain points.
If our business is not strong because of us, it is very dangerous. It is also impossible to do big business.
It’s better to join the project. If the franchisee doesn’t make money because of you, it’s because no customer is strong because of us. It’s doomed that your business will not be big. If the franchisees make money because of you and make real profits, even if there is no traffic drive in the later stage, your investment attraction will increase, which has nothing to do with your investment attraction script. The final test is how much value you create for users.
So to sum up the above three items, the project I choose must have these three core factors. I hope that I can find a career worth fighting for ten years or even a lifetime. Have you found such a career?
